Last season, the Los Angeles Rams shocked many around the football world by turning around their season after a slow start and making a run to the postseason. Unfortunately, despite a valiant effort, the Rams came up just short in the Wild Card Round, falling on the road to the Detroit Lions.

Even still, it was an inspiring effort all season long for Sean McVay’s squad and now they will look to build on that going into this season. Armed with some new additions, the Rams will look to show that last season was no fluke and that journey will begin in the same place where last season’s ended.

While the schedule hasn’t yet been made official, there have already been some leaks and the Rams will apparently open up the 2024 season in a playoff rematch in Detroit against the Lions on Sunday Night Football:

Opening week on Sunday night is sure to bring out a raucous crowd and the Lions fans have shown they can pack that stadium like no other. They will come into the season as one of the favorites in the NFC, so the Rams will have a great opportunity to show that they belong in that conversation as well and McVay will need to have them ready to play.

Also of note amongst those schedule leaks so far is a pair of Thursday Night Football games, first in Week 8 against the Minnesota Vikings and again in Week 15 when the Rams host the rival San Francisco 49ers in what could be a crucial divisional game. Another primetime matchup occurs in Week 12 when the Rams host the Philadelphia Eagles, another team considered one of the best in the conference.

Overall, the Rams are expected to have five primetime games with the other being in Week 10 on Monday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins, which will mark both Jalen Ramsey and Odell Beckham Jr. returning to SoFi Stadium.

The Rams have made some moves this offseason that have put them in position to be amongst the contenders in the NFC, but McVay and his team will have to prove it from Week 1.

Sean McVay wants Matthew Stafford to be Rams quarterback for ‘as long as he wants to play’

While Sean McVay is at the head of things, quarterback Matthew Stafford is right there as well and he is coming off an excellent season in which he was named to the Pro Bowl. And even though he is 36 years old, McVay is hopeful Stafford remains under center for years to come.

The Rams coach recently spoke on this saying he wants Stafford to be the Rams quarterback for ‘as long as he wants to play.’ McVay added that he felt Stafford played his best ball as a member of the Rams down the stretch last year and has already set the tone as a leader for the franchise this offseason.
